Jo Nesbo

Jo Nesbo played football for Norway’s premier league team Molde, but his dream of playing professionally for Spurs was dashed when he tore ligaments in his knee at the age of eighteen. After three years military service he attended business school and formed the band Di derre ('Them There').

Their second album topped the charts in Norway, but he continued working as a financial analyst, crunching numbers during the day and gigging at night. When commissioned by a publisher to write a memoir about life on the road with his band, he instead came up with the plot for his first Harry Hole crime novel, The Bat.

He is regarded as one of the world’s leading crime writers, with The Leopard, Phantom, Police and The Son all topping the UK bestseller charts, and his novels are published in 50 languages. The new Harry Hole thriller, The Thirst, is published on April 20th 2017.

This is the first book I have read by Jo Nesbo and I loved it. I originally saw the trailer for this movie on TV and it piqued my interest so I read the book first before watching the movie (the book is always better anyway!).

The story is about a detective by the name of Harry Hole who tries to track down a serial killer he has dubbed "The Snowman" who only strikes in winter when the snow falls and leaves behind makeshift snowmen in recognition of a life that he has taken. In his investigations, Detective Harry Hole sees there is a pattern emerging where the Snowman tracks down married women and kills them by torturous methods, and tries to work out what the Snowman's method of madness is when he selects his victims. It is only when the Snowman strikes close to home that Detective Hole realises that he was wrong about who he thought the killer was, and that the Snowman is watching his every move.

This book is very well written and and I definitely recommend it to all. Although it is a little hard to follow with all the Norwegian names, after a while the grow on you. It is an excellent crime book to read and I will definitely buy more books by this author. It kept me in suspense and hanging on every word and I cannot wait to read the next book by this author.
