At twenty-seven, Libby thinks there's a lot to be said for a rich husband.

So when Nick comes along - lovely, funny, handsome Nick, who has no money whatsoever, lives in a grotty bedsit and thinks the perfect night out consists of the pub and his mates - she decides he's only good for a fling. No strings attached.Investment banker Ed, on the other hand, could possibly be the answer.

His house in Regent's Park makes up for his hideous moustache and she can probably overlook his irritating habits, and anyway, he's crazy about her.

But does Libby really know what she needs? Is she just in love with being loved? Or is she loving the lifestyle, rather than the man?

I'm getting a little tired of books with such unlikable protagonists. Surely you want the reader to feel sympathy towards the characters in the novel?

Libby is about as self centred as you can get. She is so self aware that she even comments on how disinterested she is in her friends love lives and general goings-on, saying that "she doesn't really care but oh well, I better ask them". How generous of you!

The love choices are in my books both unsuitable for her. She doesn't like the first one because he's beneath her. Oh but she DOES like that which is unattainable. She breaks all the rules and becomes a snivelling, pathetic whinging harpy. No wonder the shabby hipster doesn't want to hang around her.

The second option is unsuitable for being far too sophisticated for her. He's high brow, intelligent and loaded. Of course she's loving the money, hates the man himself and is actually repulsed by him. Charming. I feel sorry for the poor bloke and I would have much preferred if the resolution of this relationship was that they were both trying to make something that wasn't a winner work for separate reasons, but alas we are meant to believe that this guy was actually that smitten with this woman.

Overall there aren't that many redeeming qualities in this book (much like Libby herself really) and unless you're looking for a read that is going to remind you why you don't read a lot of chick lit in the first place, I'd go grab something else.
