Jo Nesbo played football for Norway’s premier league team Molde, but his dream of playing professionally for Spurs was dashed when he tore ligaments in his knee at the age of eighteen. After three years military service he attended business school and formed the band Di derre ('Them There').

Perhaps because of the Australian setting but I am hugely disappointed in this book. Plot and characters are contrived and Harry Hole, pronounced 'Holy', lacks depth and grit. I've got 9 more of these to read and certainly hope for an improvement. Maybe it was a mistake to pick this book up straight after reading the excellent Michael Connelly novel 'The Gods of Guilt'.
